Description: The Gibbs Cycle Charlotte is a cycling event starting and ending at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. It will begin and end with cyclist riding on the track with post ride celebration in the team garages. Participants will have three different challenging routes to choose from or choose the Yellow Flag Route that doesn't leave the Speedway.
ALL NEW ROUTES for 2019
- Participants on the Checkered Flag Route will enjoy a 75 mile route through the rolling terrain of Cabarrus and Union Counties. There will be two timed challenge sections on the route and four fully stocked rest stops loaded with food, snacks and drinks.
- Participants on the Green Flag Route will enjoy a 50 mile route through the rolling terrain of Cabarrus and Union Counties. There will be one timed challenge section on the route and three fully stocked rest stops loaded with food, snacks and drinks.
- Participants on the on the Red Flag Route will enjoy a 30 mile route through the rolling terrain of Cabarrus and Union Counties. There will be one fully stocked rest stop loaded with food, snacks and drinks.
- Participants on the Yellow Flag Route will ride 7 laps round the track of Charlotte Motor Speedway; approximately 15 miles of riding.
Online registration opens June 1, 2019 at 6:00am.
Day of Event registration will be available at the Speedway at 7:30am.
Packet pickup will occur in the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway on the day of the event. Participants will enter via Gate 26. Be prepared to sign a liability waiver as you enter the speedway.
The ride will begin at 9:00am with a short introduction shortly before departure.
Parking for Gibbs Cycle Charlotte will be in a grass field of the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway. You must park in designated parking areas. Caution tape will block off areas not allowed and there will be signs directing vehicles as they enter the Speedway infield.
Route Control / Markings: The ride route is marked with signs only.
Aid Stations: The rides are fully supported with 4 aide stations on the Checkered Flag route, 3 on the Green Flag route and 1 aide station on the Red Flag route with food, beverages, and bathrooms. See the ride Map or Route Directions for their specific locations.
Bicycle Vendors: Specialized Bikes will have demo bikes available for riding. Scott Bikes will also have several models available.
Rules: The Gibbs Cycle Charlotte is an open-road ride. Obey the North Carolina traffic laws and watch for motoring traffic at all times. Bicycle helmets are required.
Gibbs Cycle Charlotte prohibits the use of earbuds. While you may be jammin' you put yourself and other riders at risk.
Rider Perks: Pre-registered riders will receive a t-shirt, water/food along the route, and a meal at the end of the ride. Size availability is not guaranteed for registrations after September 1st.
After the ride:
At the finish, there are no showers. Barbeque food and drink are provided by The Smoke Pit Restaurant
and will be served in the team garages.
